Health Care Foundation of Greater Kansas City

Letter from the Chair/CEO

Dear Friends:

The Health Care Foundation of Greater Kansas City has an exciting opportunity to significantly enhance the quality of health in the communities we serve with a particular emphasis on helping those who are disadvantaged and underserved.

Since we began grantmaking in 2005, HCF has distributed over $100 million to our communities. This would not have been possible without the leadership from many people who worked to form this Foundation.

We want to thank the members of the Board of Directors who have donated many hours to help this new foundation get established. The Board leadership and passion for doing “what’s right” has made this adventure of starting a new foundation from scratch an example to others of what good can be accomplished if we all work together and don’t worry about who gets credit.

The Community Advisory Committee (CAC) has played an important role in our development. Now under the leadership of Jon Gray, the members of this advisory group have provided us with valuable insight as we identify the health needs of this community, and we thank them for their leadership and counsel.

Most importantly, we want to thank the communities we serve in the state of Missouri (Kansas City, Missouri, and Cass, Jackson and Lafayette Counties) and in the state of Kansas (Allen, Johnson, Wyandotte Counties) for helping us in our efforts to improve the access and quality of health care for the medically indigent and underserved. We are mindful that money by itself does not solve problems. People of good will working together for a common purpose solve problems.

We hope you find our new web site easy to navigate. Please let us know if you have suggestions on how we can improve the information contained on this web site. Members of our dedicated staff will be happy to address your questions or concerns.

It is our goal to be responsible stewards of the resources entrusted to us while at the same time be engaged and involved in the communities we serve. We look forward to working with you.
