HEALTH CARE FOUNDATION AWARDS $747,868 IN APPLICANT DEFINED GRANTS

 

KANSAS CITY, MO – In July, the Health Care Foundation of Greater Kansas City (HCF) approved $747,868 in applicant defined grants to support organizations who strive to eliminate barriers to quality health and promote healthy lifestyles.
HCF awarded the following grants:

  • $75,000 to Kansas Legal Services to develop a Medical/Legal Partnership at Children’s Mercy  Hospital and Children’s Mercy West for Kansas patients.
  • $75,000 to Mid America Regional Council for the Kansas City Bi-State Health Information Exchange.
  • $75,000 to Partnership for Children to support health-related advocacy work on behalf of indigent and underserved children in Kansas City, Missouri.
  • $71,400 to Jewish Vocational Service to fund a Medical/Mental Health Coordinator to assist newly arrive refugees.
  • $67,700 to ReDiscover for its Access and Retention Initiative.
  • $50,000 to Missouri Jobs with Justice for health related advocacy in the Kansas City area.
  • $50,000 to Northland Health Care Access to offer primary care services through the Family Medical Clinic at Crestview Elementary School.
  • $49,900 to The Plaza Academy to provide mental health and special education services.
  • $49,915 to United Community Services of Johnson County for county-wide planning to improve the criminal justice system response to adults with mental health needs.
  • $47,000 to Child Protection Center to provide medical and social services.
  • $45,522 to Guadalupe Center for its Por Tu Salud program which provides education, screenings and health interventions.
  • $35,000 to University of Missouri-Kansas City, KCUR to support a health care reporter.
  • $31,431 to Turner House Clinic to support a Technology Specialist/Office Manager.
  • $25,000 to Coalition of Hispanic Women Against Cancer to provide screenings, education and case management.

In 2009, HCF will fund a total of $4 million in Applicant Defined Grants (ADG). Proposals are accepted and reviewed monthly.  To learn more, visit www.healthcare4kc.org
